Fitness Rats

I won't be hitting this month's target for project invincible. Nevertheless, I've made quite a brilliant progress. I'd revert back to jogging in the evening since yesterday only coz it rained early morning. And boy, does it feel different. It turns out that the stampede-rs are really relay runners. I'm just not convinced enough though. Haha.

Then I got annoyed just now after I'd completed my last round. I dunno...just felt pissed off somehow. It was actually this guy who looked like a freaking drug addict and who wasn't even dressed properly to work out. With his underwear exposed that is. He kept looking to the back, as if trying to find potential competitors. It's the look on his face which says "I can run faster than the rest of you." And my mood fluctuates instantaneously.

I hate it when people do that. Maybe it's my imagination. But whatever lah. I for one thinks that the stadium is really meant for anyone and everyone regardless of shape, size or speed (as in running/jogging speed). In the name of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If there are freaks who'd like to treat it as a bloody competition, they might as well take up their kinda race elsewhere. And this is the SECOND time it's happened hokay. The last time was when I was out jogging around my neighbourhood estate, and that had me totally flipped out too. Urgh.

I'm gonna have to jog in the morning tomorrow coz the stadium's gonna be out of bounds in the evening to make way for a soccer match I think. So out with the freaks and in with the oldies who does their workout to some dangdut tunes. Whahaha!

In other stories (haha!), I'm now starting to watch Cashmere Mafia and Lipstick Jungle. Only because both shows have the Devil Wears Prada feel to it. And both are based in New York and you know how much I love any shows which centres around the NY area ever since I'd gotten hooked to Gossip Girl. CM is scandalous enough on its first episode with two gay women kissing each other. Like mouth to mouth. Ohhhmmyyy.

Happy People

Haha! Like I'd said, today will turn out to be a marvelous day. Headed over to veevoh with Nurul and HidW. It just so happens that Hidayah's on a phototaking high. We took tons of shots in the toilet alone. Lol. After which we made our way to town to meet up with Imah at her workplace and manage to take a few more photos of us together. Haha! Too bad Fad's wayyy too engross entertaining stacks of books and those makciks at her workplace. Ahakz. Apart from that, I finally purchased my new sandals after having delayed them for months. Gonna hunt for a new bag next. Blah.

Colour My Life

I cannot bring myself to update the table for project invincible. It's making me so edgy, and even then, I still kept stuffing my face with food. And I totally gave in last night coz my parents came back from JB with two bags of assorted sushis. Damn well, I stuffed tons of them in my face at around MIDNIGHT. Bloody hell.

I think I may have to revise my goal for this month. Just to be kind to myself. Giving up now is definitely out of line considering I'm only two months through the whole process. Sigh...why does it have to be so hard to forgive??? Bleah.

Tomorrow will be another bright new day. Minus the fact that the haze is back though. Stupid.

I managed to get myself two sets of cheapo bedspreads from expo. Like FINALLY. I do believe that I've so many of them in my wardrobe now. Can't help it ayyy. Colourful, flowery or girly (or just about the combination of ALL THREE) bedspreads makes me extremely happy.

With one of the new bedspreads used for my bed and ONIB playing at the background, just about the best remedy to make me feel better after my horrible downfall with that damned weighing scale.

Annnndddd, I'll be meeting HidW and Nurul tomorrow! All the more I should not let the weighty issue bother me. Yes, screw the weighing scale. Coz tomorrow's gonna be a brilliant day. I should know better. Heh.

One Night In Bangkok

Thanks to the weight increase, I am now feeling like a hopeless fool. I only have this crazy techno tune (a remix version of One Night In Bangkok) playing in the background to turn to for comfort. What's worse, this is supposed to be my final lap to achieve this month's target. I am left with just six days to put down the necessary amount in order to approach my goal. Which is possible, I shall say. Only if i clear my head and stay focus for the next six days.

Anyway, I was up pretty late last night, trying to update my ipod with new music. The only two gems I managed to uncover would have to be a song from Awie and of course, One Night In Bangkok (ONIB). Well, the thing is, I'd always like ONIB ever since lower secondary, when I kept listening to it during one of the segments where they play retro hits at Ria 89.7 FM on weekends. I just couldn't get hold of the track for so long not until last night.

And then there's the tune from Awie. Very jiwang hokay, but exceptionally captivating. I know I hardly keep up with the latest malay songs, but out of the few malay singers I'd actually bothered to listen to, Awie has gotta be one of the superb ones. Even though I'd been too reliant on Tragedi Oktober since like forever that is. Haha. Maybe I should sift through my younger brother's music collection to stock up on malay songs. He's the only one who tend to keep up with the latest malay tunes.

I still cannot figure out why Veronica Mars ended up at Hearst when she'd gotten the letter of acceptance from Stanford. I've been going through all three seasons countless times, yet I still couldn't find out why. Think I may have zoned out at the relevant parts. And I'd just started watching Entourage season one. I thought it's kinda draggy. Then as I did my research on Wikipedia, it turns out that Entourage is actually an award-winning tv show. The Emmy if I'm not wrong.

Looks like I'm going on a major entertainment overdrive. Not that I'm complaining. I guess I just have to make myself live through this worry-free moments to my fullest. Before the damned results comes out. Bleah.

Cousins Bday

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY COUSINS!

Yep, my cousins celebrated their respective birthday some days ago. With AniOoon turning 24 and CacaBelo turning 16. In reality, Caca is the biggest among us yaww despite being the youngest among us three.

Ha ha ha.

Over and Out

This week, my final week with just lane six at the stadium. I'd decided to get through them all in the morning. And it sure is so much better coz the wind ain't that strong early morning. Unlike whenever I'm out jogging in the evening, like should I give up on gravity, I'd be blown up to the galaxy already. Hah.

And speaking of galaxy, I was just thinking...of the names of some of the gyms (or fitness whatever) here. Some seems to have the notion to take on the universe. There's yet to be a GALAXY fitness though. Is there? Sounds good. And promotional activities oughta be a breeze yawww. Have them bodybuilders dressed up as buzz lightyear and you're ready to roll. Like I said, the rock, has the eyes of buzz lightyear. That's why, that's why. Haha, nonsense.

And speaking of bodybuilders, I had a disturbing encounter the other day which led to a funny dream. But I won't bother elaborating kayyy. Ooohhhh and my cousin says there are some kinda cow "bodybuilders" on youtube. As in MUSCULAR COWS?! Ok wow. And the governator was on one of the episodes of The Apprentice. Apparently he was an immigrant. I never knew that. I thought he was quite and inspiration on that show. Anddd, what am I talking???? From galaxy to buzz lightyear to bodybuilders to muscular cows to the governator. Lol.

Art Fazil's songs on myspace are sooo moodyyyy. Though in a very good way. Like, WHEN is he gonna come up with a new English album ayyy? I kept listening to the first one on my ipod whenever I feel crappy. Well, his songs has some kinda comforting vibe to it. And I feel good listening to them. And that is why I think he should come up with a new album a.s.a.p coz I can't possibly rely on just one album to get me through my crappy moments. Ok, at least there's till Anggun. Even then she's not coming up with a new album either. And she uses similar approach for some of her lyrics. I'd only figured that out coz I was too bored.

"Like the north needs the south, the wind needs the clouds..." - Breathing
"Like a rose without its thorns, like a bird without a song, like a fire without a flame..." - Undress Me

Like a calendar without numbers, like a watch without its hands, like a...haha! My lame attempt to sound like Anggun. Won't work much. She strings her words beautifully, it's uber captivating and sometimes mind-numbing. That's why I loveeee her soooo much.

Moving on, I bought Elvis Presley's 30 #1 Hits. Coz I've been so hooked to Burning Love, I think I need to get in touch with every other hits from him. I even look him up on Wikipedia. Urhhh, sad case...he died coz of drugs. Why oh why. Can't you all just be superb musicians and churn out hits after hits and NOT die a tragic death. Like how the Backstreet Boys does it.

Sometimes I wonder if downloading stuffz illegally will land me in hell. It is after all stealing. Hmmm...

Ok CUT! So much mindless rambling ayyyy. Haha! And we are gonna hang out at the Merlion once again tomorrow. Maybe play with the uno cards.

Random

Darn, I've finished the whole of season 6 - The Apprentice. Funny thing is, I didn't expect Stefani to win. Coz unlike Frank's and James' outspoken demeanour, Stefani went rather low-key throughout the whole season. As for season 7, which I've watched till the seventh episode, I really think that Piers should be kicked out mannn. He drove Vinnie (spell?) out and nearly had Stephen Baldwin quit the whole thing too.

Worse off, he went on a major tongue-lashing against crazy Omarosa. Just because she mocked his parental skills, he went all out calling her a piece of trash, tramp, etc. Like what the hell? He was a tabloid editor! And I am very certain that he was among those to be first in line to have criticsized Britney Spears' parenting capabilty when she went all wrecked up. Duhhh. Think karma on the international screen. Hah! Hokay, think I'm gonna watch one of those seasons of the Amazing Race next. I loooveeee having so much free time man...whahahaha!

On a separate note, I should stop my detective work on the internet. I keep coming across informations that I really should not have bothered finding out about. That is, all the infos got me tripping most of the time. Blahh. Must have been the influence after having watched Veronica Mars so many times. Yeah, I watch VM on my ipod everytime before I go to bed. My favourite bedtime story ayyy. Anyway, I just found out that Nancy Drew now has its graphic novels. I really really wanna get my hands on them but I can't be too certain if it's worth the read. The whole package just seem sooo captivating. Haaa. And I need to track down some of the ND books. Especially the ones about the rare book collection, rare teddy bears, the trunk whatever. Ahhhhhh, I miss reading Nancy Drew...!

On a very very positive note, I have set up an LJ site to keep track of my weight loss regime. I am taking it slowly and painfully. Came up with a table to track down my day-to-day progress. So far so good. And my target for February is to lose 2.5kg. So I should hit 78kg by the end of this month. I am hoping that I won't face much glitches throughout this whole stretch. Wish me well...hehe.

Future

Friendster took forever to come up with the folder option thingy for the photo gallery. Now that I can create multiple folders, I do not need to bother restricting the amount of photo uploads in my account. It's so much more practical and less of a drag to get through the entire gallery. Though maybe I should limit one folder to lesser amount of photos for a much swifter viewing. And I do think that I can already create one folder just for the photos of me and Imah together. There's too many of them already! Haha!

I have been thinking about my options for post-A-levels. Searched through the web for some of the courses that I'd wanna dabble in later on. And I realized that in order for me to fulfill that, I may have to take a few steps back. In a very ego-bruising manner that is. But whatever, I am keen on redeeming myself. The past three years had been one hellish phase of my life. Making myself move along with the current will only put me on reluctant paths. I'd rather suffer a short setback than having to live through something I'd never like for the rest of my life.

Anyhow, studying abroad could eat up to fifty thousand bucks. And that is just my ASSUMPTION. I should think that it would cost more. Maybe I should make my parents sell the house. Yeahhh, how much more selfish can I be right? Ha ha ha. But what are the odds that I would be able to end up in a local U? It's definitely against me. And I don't wanna dwell on it. Bleah. Though I do know that there's one predictable path my parents would wanna make me take up. And no, I don't wanna talk about it either.

The Apprentice

I've been watching The Apprentice season six and seven everytime before I set out for my jogging session. The whole board room drama got my heart pumping like crazy. That ought to be a good thing coz it helps to hype me up and thus enabling me to complete those rounds at the stadium. Even if it tend to last for just the first three rounds. Hah. Subsequent rounds are a major drag. But I have to say, I am making some progress. A cause for celebration? Nahhh, not yet. Maybe once I'd finally hit my short term goal.

So earlier on before the jog session, I was out with my mum window shopping at Parkway Parade. Had a brocolli overload in my yong tau fu, only because I do not eat enough servings of veggies at home. And it tasted kinda bland.

And I really don't know why I bother typing all these out when I've nothing exciting to talk about. Whatever arhh.

Happy 20th Birthday Hidayah!

HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY HIDAYAH!!!

We had a little surprise birthday for Hidayah over at Marina Square's Pizza Hut. Though this birthday must have been a little tricky for us to pull off considering a lot of shops would be closed as it is after all the second day of cny. There were hiccups in trying to get ourselves the preferred location to celebrate the birthday, and that we almost couldn't get the birthday cake as most of the bakeries are not in business. Anyhow, we managed to get through. Found the right place, got a pretty decent cake and things went smoothly from there. The combination of people for this celebration has gotta be a little odd. And undeniably awkward initially. But it isn't so bad. We had quite a good time, stuffing our faces with chocolate cake and pizzas and whatnot. So, proceed on for more pictures yawww...

The couple cutting the cake. Incidentally, Firdaus's (Hidayah's boyfriend) birthday was the day before. A double celebration somewhat. Haha.

Tell me the pizza looks good in this picture. I am practically drooling now.

The people who made it happend. Quite a motley crew ayyy. Heh. And it's just the girls here in this picture by the way.

And US. Yeahhh, the GMs. Nurul's not in the picture coz she couldn't make it to the celebration.

Ohhh, we played with the uno cards that I brought along after half of the crew went their separate ways. Some games of heart attack at One Fullerton's Starbucks (yet again...) and we really made a fool out of ourselves, screaming and having the cards strewn around. Lol.

CNY Eve

Spent eve of CNY with my cousin. Didn't do much out there. Spent a little bit of time at NLB after grabbing some bites. Took pictures of some buildings coz my couz wanna take part in some sorta photography competition. Hung around at Starbucks at One Fullerton (and came into close proximity with the merlion once again) and played stress with them uno cards, yet again. Haha!

MeetUps

Bloodyyy goofballssss. I was sooo bloody "enchanted" by the bloody merlion, that I typed out a whole essay about it and totally forgot to update about the outings with them girlyfrens.

Will spill some stuffz about them before turning off this comp (which I've been staring at since twelve in the afternoon by the way) and heading out for my jogging session later. GOD PLEASE DON'T LET THE RAIN FALL FROM NOW TILL 7PM! Eh but I need to convert some videos to MP4 format. Like ten of them. And that will definitely take forever. Thanks to my bro's video collection. Didn't know he's got like stacks of them CDs all filled with really great stuffz. Oh so that means I cannot turn off my comp. Damn, so sorry coz I'm being such a pain in the arse by wasting electricity. What else is new lahh kannn. I'd never shut off the light during bedtime ever since the renovation and ever since I felt myself getting choked out of my breath when I did try to go to bed without the lights on one of those days during the exams period. Scary yawww.

I'll skip the pics with the girlyfriends coz I've uploaded most of them on my friendster. Speaking of which, I need an official restraining order form the high court to stop me from uploading anymore photos on my friendster. Whahahaha! Coz I did reduce the amount of pics there some times back (ask Imah!) but I can't seems to stop uploading either. Well, what can I say (QUOTE MY BELO COUSIN), when you have 'em you gotta flaunt 'em. Well, in a good good way. I showcase mostly my friends anyway. That's why you call it F-R-I-E-N-D-S-ter. Haaa.

Ok enough.

Met Nurul at the expo to have some chillout session (chillout kepe...) at the previous mugging spot, Coffee Bean, while we wait for Fad to get her work over and done with before we meet up. Grab some bites from BK and that arseholic guy who served us did not include chilli sauce in our order. Bleah. So off we were to CB and then we played some card games. Wokayyy, it was just the UNO cards lahhh and we played STRESS, for I don't know how many rounds. No prizes guessing who won the game HANDS DOWN. Definitely not Nurul. Lol! So then Fad joined us, and we had a little bit of catching up, befre proceeding to the legendary toilet for our photoshoot. And from there, we continued on to Tamp's KFC for yet another junk meal.

The following day, I'd actually cancelled on Imah and my bestfriend coz I just felt like bumming around at home. Not until Hidayah called me that is. She wanna go for the interview at the airport. Headed out around afternoon, and I was caught in the middle of a thunderstorm. I got drenched even when I was walking under a sheltered walkway. Had to settle with the train to head over to the airport. Located the secluded office and waited for our turns. Hidayah was lucky coz her turn came just a few moments after we submitted the forms. I, on the other hand, had to wait forever. Thus giving me ample time to think of the pros and cons of joining the beauty line. Decided to give it up and just walked out of the office.

I had wanted to go home after that. But decided to head over to town with Hidayah coz she said we could get drinks from CB F.O.C. I knowwww, super tak malu. Kekekeke. So I get to try the lychee thingy which Hidayah claims that it "does not look like lychee". Heh. And we surprised Imah at FEP. See, I kept on sms-ing Imah telling her that I was bored at home and that I was looking through Friendster, when me and Hidayah were already near FEP. Haha. The highlight whilst we were there has gotta be the point in time when the By Def guy came to talk to Imah's bf. I am not sucha fan so I was totally unaware that it was him initially. But those two monyets pretended not to wanna take a pic with him despite looking awfully starstruck. Ahakz.

I'd get on with my story, but I'm running late for my jog session already. BYE!

A Day In History

I read the article on today's paper on sg-ians doing considerably bad when tested on their understanding of this country. Having read through the ten questions that was used for the citizenship test, I gotta admit that I do not know the answers to some of them either, had I been asked firsthand. While this should trigger enough interest in me to do a teeny weeny bit of research on my part to justify my citizenship, I am however, more inclined to do my research on the Merlion.

I mean lets face it, Singapore has undergone major changes since the day it was discovered. And that could be attributed to the hard work of some of the most influential people, who have until this point in time, shaped Singapore to become a renowned territory to the world based on its numerous achievements and strength. So these are the people who definitely deserve credits to their name. Which they do, I gotta say. Everyone respects LKY, Yusof Ishak, Sir Stamford Raffles and all the others who played a prominent role in allowing this little island to develop.

But it sure seems like the one that's given prominent attention is the Merlion. If not, why is it that we have the Merlion as our LARGEST national monument over at pulau belakang mati?! What is the significance of the merlion? What does it contribute to our country? Why do we have to make it our tourism mascot? I'll try to find as much info as possible and type it all out below.

"The Merlion has a lion head and a fish body resting on a crest of waves. The lion head symbolises the legend of the discovery of Singapura, as recorded in the "Malay Annals". In ancient times, Singapore was known as Temasek, a Javanese word for sea. In the 11th century A.D, Prince Sang Nila Utama of the Sri Vijaya Empire rediscovered the island. When the Prince first landed on Singapore's shores, he sighted a mystical beast which he later learnt was a lion. The Prince then decided to name the island "Singapura" which in Sanskrit means Lion (Singa) City (Pura). The fish tail of the Merlion symbolises the ancient city of Temasek and represents Singapore's humble beginnings as a fishing village."

(taken from http://www.visitsingapore.com/)

Ok so that is about the most interesting fact that I'd like to put over here. All the other infos are kinda boring. Like the restoration processes of the merlion, its original home, the material it was made of, blah blah blah. Like nothing that would capture anyone's attention and points that are very irrelevant to explain the history of sg.

However, this little excerpt that I got from wikipedia is pretty interesting,

"...future generations of Singaporean poets have struggled with the symbol of the Merlion, frequently taking an ironic, critical, or even hostile stand - and pointing out its artificiality and the refusal of ordinary Singaporeans to accept a tourist attraction as their national icon."

Haha, my sentiments exactly. Why place the Merlion on a pedestal when it's not really that significant to even be taken into account as a national icon. Sure Sang Nila Utama found a four-legged creature in the jungle. But like what one of my teachers said, what if it had not really been a lion that SNU saw. What if it was something tragic...say, a PIG? Surely we wouldn't want to have the upper half of a pig coupled with a mermaid bottom as our national icon. Not to mention that loansharks would have to substitute the usual pig head to threaten their debtors with something else. Coz the pig's head would be rendered sacred ya know. National monument and all. Hah.

The websites I went to did not explain the significance of the water that spurts out of the Merlion. Maybe it's just for show coz the largest one at Sentosa does not have water coming out of it's mouth, just that its eyes kept changing to different colours. Ahakz. So anyway, wikipedia stated that "water is known as the symbol of life and wealth in Chinese culture". That should explain why we have the Merlion spurting water out of its mouth. A purpose for wealth which would tranlsate into economic growth which brings life into this country and the whole shebang that comes along with it.

Then it hits me. Life and wealth. As in, life in sg refers to the people. And the people are the main natural resources that this country possesses. They are the ones who contribute to the economic growth of this country. So the people are somewhat like the Merlion who constantly spurts out life and wealth into this country. Take a look at it in another way and I'd say it's VERY TRUE. We are spurting wealth in the country and having it come to such a "colourful and wonderful" life. What with the increasing amount of erp gantries, higher cab fares, practically higher prices for everything, we might as well be spurting money out of our mouth. Just like the Merlion ayyy. Ha ha ha.
