Edged

I found out that paraffin wax are edible while searching for peanut butter cup recipes. And that new york skin solutions is really not for the faint-hearted. I don't mean aesthetically. Just the hardsell bit that became quite a turn off for me. I googled it up and voila! A whole bunch of negative responses screaming back at me. So I am supposed to decide by today, call the damn consultant up tomorrow.

The thing is if I can pluck that much money from trees I would have signed up already. Problem is, I'm broke. I cannot get the cash from my parents either coz they just bought me a new laptop. Plus to be very honest, the first facial trial made me feel extremely violated. It made me feel like that guy who got punctured and waxed in House Of Wax. Which, by the way, was the one movie that scared me shitless. Fad on the other hand thought that the whole facial thingy made her feel like she kena kapan.

May I add a bit more as to how extensive the hardsell methods of nyss is like. It wasn't much of a problem for Fad coz she had decidedly wanted to sign up for the facial treatments anyway. I merely wanted to get a shot at the free trial thingy. The consultant insisted that I took up the collagen treatment, coz of the clogging and lack of "triangles" on the skin of my face. Sounds good? But me not enough money.

She went on with the lowdown of the discounts that I'd supposedly get for being a first-time customer. From 1000+ to 850 to 800. Brilliant? But me still not enough money to my name. She then came up with a 250 firsthand payment so that they can put on hold the promotional package for me. Still, I kept telling them that I've not enough cash and that I've to ask my parents and that my nets balance are running low.

THEN, they kept insisting that I borrow money from Fad. When I declined, they questioned my friendship with Fad. Somehow in this new age we measure friendship by the amount of money we can choke outta our friends. Yeah seriously. If you cannot lend your friends money so that she can proceed with a facial treatment package, YOU ARE ONE LOUSY FRIEND, YOU SHOULD JUST CRASH AND BURN. Yeah right.

Subsequently, they asked how much cash I have with me at that point in time. What the hell? I thought if I were to be very honest, they'd take my word for it and stop bugging me and just let me proceed with the 28 bucks free treatment (which was what I really came down for). Told them I had only fifty.

Guess what? They suddenly came up with a treatment that need me to pay just fifty bucks as a firsthand payment. Like wth?! Even a mere fifty bucks is good enough money for them to rip off me?! And I did say I had ONLY fifty. Which would theoretically mean that I need that money to last the whole day for expenses etc etc right? But noooo, they are too desperate that even a fifty bucks upfront payment is money worth their while. And w-t-f, I actually PAID UP. Damn.

So I went through the first session and when it was done, they rallied for my money once again. They again insist that I borrow money from Fad. They kept saying that I won't be able to get the promotional rate if I don't sign-up a.s.a.p. They then asked that I borrow money from Fad yet again! And questioning the sanctity of our friendship blah blah blah.

Just to shut them up, I told them that I'll ask my parents first and requested that they put on hold the promotional package for me for a few days or so. They gave me just two days. Practically forced me to book for my appointment on this coming Friday to go down there with the money in hand. Wowwww.

When I got home, the Veronica Mars sleuth prowess started kicking in. I googled up nyss. And boy am I not surprise by the amount of negative feedbacks the damn place received. Though the complaints were more focused on the horrible hardsell tactics they tend to resort to. Some even were locked up for hours in the consultation room when they refused to sign up for the treatment packages.

They were also disparity in the way the pricings of the packages were given. And that product prices are not consistent. There was one person who was offered to buy an ampoule at 120 but when she refused, the price was lowered down all the way to less than half the price. And the consultant claimed that it was the student rate price. So those people who hardly baulked when offered to buy the ampoule at 120, they were practically cheated a whopping amount of money.

In all fairness, quite a number of those people providing feedbacks on those forums stated that the facial service on its own wasn't all that bad as it does produces desired results. STILL. Being all profit-driven and horribly pushy would only undermine any form of crdibility worth to be mentioned.
