Wow, I'd finally succeeded in finding the most appropriate gift (pictured above) for my bestfriend in celebrating our friendship. I gotta admit, I was pretty stumped trying to figure out the most suitable gift for her. I had brainstormed for quite a bit, even got opinions from my couz, but apparently none of them were to my liking. And I do think that I was dragging time a little too much. Too free I guess. Hah.
Anyhow, I got lucky today. I was going from one shop to another to find the gift, it was futile initially. But when I was about to head for home, I saw a sales display which I had bypassed earlier on and hadn't bothered to check out what they had to offer. To my delight, they were selling a whole array of charms. I swear the whole collection had me turned bonkers coz there were so many colours, shapes and designs to choose from. They had caps, t-shirts, guitars, watches, the eiffel tower, animals, keys, alphabets, shoes etc. And all of them came in multi colours. I had a tough time choosing, really. And I was pressed for time too coz my couz, who was with me, had to get back home on time. So I settled for the ones pictured below.
WHITE BOOT CHARM. I must have gotten influenced by Imah's latest rage in the "footwear department". She's been browsing for boots for quite a bit now. Haha. But that's not the only reason why I decided to settle for this particular charm. In my opinion, the boots have some sorta feministic element to it. Haa. For one, it sure seem superficial in a way, for it's supposed to complement one's attire for the day. In other words, it makes you look prettier, and mostly, in tune with the current fashion scene. Typical for a female ayy.
On the other hand, while the boots may merely pose as a pair of footwear to further enhance the way you look, it actually possess a strength in its own. In this instance, as compared to all the other ladies footwear, the boots are seemingly more sturdy and provide a kind of added security. Like from getting your legs wet for instance? Ha ha ha. So to put it feministically (if there's such a word), a woman who wears boots are probaby the ones in control, and would like to have a stable life and ensures that she's not vulnerable to any kind of negative influences. Lol. I can't believe I came up with that, but it does make sense doesn't it? Hehe.
ALPHAPET CHARMS. It spells out my bestfriend's name. Or rather, the name I'd usually call her by. As you can see, the alphabets have different colours for its crystal studs. I was supposed to decide on just one as there were three of them, either blue, pink or the multi-coloured ones. But I couldn't make up my mind, so I settled for all three instead. Lol.
KEY CHARM. This was quite a no-brainer. And being my personal favourite, it was the first charm that I settled down with, whilst the other four took me quite awhile to decide. Coz this year my bestfriend will be celebarting her 21st (me too actually. hah). So it will be a super advance freedom key ayy. But I like how this charm complements the rest of the bracelet. It stood out somehow. And I chose the one with the silver crystal studs as it would be easier to match with the other charms.
Ok, so I had initailly wanted to get all the charms with a silver base colour, but I thought that silver tend to get a bit too over rated. So I settled with bronze base colour for the charms. Unfortunately, putting the bronze based charms on a bronze bracelet, made the whole thing look too rustic. So I had them contrasted with the silver bracelet instead.
Ok so there you have it, a simple yet meaningful (I hope) charm bracelet for my bestfriend. The best part being, the bracelet cost a little under thirty bucks. Original selling price would have cost so much more. Worse thing being, the offer ends this weekend. Damn would I wanna make more of such charm bracelets. It would really make a cool gift for my soon-to-be 21 years old friends. Alas, I don't have much money to be spent on such presents immediately. Hopefully they'll have another round of sale.
